Zippo, one of the most recognized brands in the world, was founded in the fall of 1932 by George G. Blaisdell in Bradford, Pennsylvania, where it has manufactured over 550 million windproof lighters. Zippo has two processes for engraving: auto engrave and laser engrave. Auto engrave is performed by skilled artisans to inscribe an image into the product using creative fill patterns, while laser engraving is computer-programmed to generate an accurate replication of an imprint.

The Zippo windproof lighter case features a standard shape with rounded corners and a flat bottom, joined by a five-barrel hinge. The standard insert has 16 holes in the chimney (8 per side), and the bottom stamp with the Zippo logo from the period authenticates these lighters as genuine Zippo.
